University of Peshawar (UPESH) is located in the city of Peshawar; founded in 1950. UPESH is public sector general university, chartered by Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. UPESH is one of the old public sector research university of the Pakistan. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate academic programs.
The Department of Chemistry, University of Peshawar was established in 1955. Initially it offers undergraduate academic programs in the field of chemistry. In 1970 it starts offering Ph.D program and in 1977 M.Phil in chemistry. Later Department of Chemistry was upgraded and renamed as “Institute of Chemical Sciences“. Institute of Chemical Sciences is one of the largest postgraduate institute of the University of Peshawar. The institute has highly qualified faculty. Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate academic programs in analytical chemistry, applied chemistry, biochemistry, fuel chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry. It offers BS and M.Sc academic programs in both morning and evening shifts.
