Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU) Quetta is a public sector general research university. It was established in 2004. SBK Women’s University is chartered by Government of Balochistan and recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. It has life sciences, social sciences, basic sciences and management & computer sciences faculties. As its name show it only offers admission to female candidates. None of male candidate get admission in this university.
Department of Chemistry, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Quetta offers admission in BS, M.Sc, M.Phil to the female candidates. It become functional in 2005 by start offering BS in chemistry. In 2009 it also starts offering admission in M.Phil academic program to the female candidates. The department of chemistry comprises of two well equipped laboratories and from the modern science area point of view they are one of the best chemistry laboratories working not only in Balochistan province but throughout Pakistan. The department has UV spectrometer, gas chromatography, micro lab, FTIR, vacuum pumps, HPLC, rotary evaporator, gel electrophoresis, flame photometer, atomic absorption, water quality meter, refractometer, polarimeter, conductivity meter and colorimeter.
