National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) is organizing a 4-day Workshop on Applications of Biotechnology for Cotton and Other Crops from October 13th to October 16th, 2014 at National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Jhang Road, Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Objectives
The first workshop on “Applications of Biotechnology for Cotton and Other Crops” at NIBGE is designed to share the expertise and to train the scientists in this area. Workshop is double flavored having two sections; first part includes lectures and sessions on “global challenges for crop improvement, crop improvement strategies, transformation technology, testing of transgenic for gene expression and biosafety studies”. This section will address current and future challenges in developing GM crops and challenges in their commercialization. The training would provide a great opportunity to bring researchers and students, interested in learning advanced techniques involved in production of transgenic plants, on a single platform.
The second part, “a Farmers day” stimulated useful field visits with the farmers and scientist of the country working on respective crops and constructive discussions sessions about current crop problems and their logical solutions. The workshop will be concluded with an intense and stimulating brainstorming discussion session.
