This book is devoted to the principles of the electrochemical analysis. It contains three parts. The first one, entitled generalities, is essentially an introduction to the second one. It is constituted, as its name indicates, of a lot of generalities concerning electrochemistry.

They are useful for understanding the second part of this book. Grouping the generalities in a preliminary part permits a compact presentation of the electrochemical methods of the analysis. Electrochemical methods for analysis are studied under the following headings (intensities, conductivities, potentials, impedances-part II).

The chapters of particularly important generalities are those devoted to the rate of the transfers in the electrochemical cell of the species which will suffer the oxidation or reduction on the electrode(s).

The presentation of the electrochemical methods of analysis constitutes the corpus of the book. Its content is actually a justification of the fundamental relations used in electrochemical analysis and which are given in a somewhat abrupt manner in part II.

In some way, it legitimizes them by formulating relations between analytes concentrations to determine with the experimental signal of the methods. The justification is grounded on mathematical developments conveying the mathematical models representing the studied phenomena.

From a strictly mathematical standpoint (explained in the third part of the book named ‘Appendices‘), its level is higher than those of the two preceding sections. This is the reason why these considerations are grouped in a third part, that is, to maintain the flow of ideas in this book.
